Before you quilt a single panel of your QUILTING BY ELISSA - Byannie - Bella Quilt Coat Pattern, get the fit right.

The Bella Quilt Coat by Elissa Ziccardi of Quilting Elissa is a relaxed-fit, fully lined jacket with set-in sleeves, inseam pockets, a separating zipper with guard, and a sporty stand collar — and it comes in ten sizes. That's a lot of choice, and a coat you'll spend weeks quilting is not the place to guess. 

In this class, Yvette walks you through making a muslin: a test version of the coat in inexpensive fabric. You'll take your measurements, work through the pattern's sizing chart, cut and assemble your muslin, then try it on and see exactly how the coat sits on your body. Yvette will help you read the fit and mark the adjustments — sleeve length, shoulder position, overall ease — so your pattern pieces are corrected before you cut into good fabric.

You'll leave with a fitted muslin and an adjusted pattern, ready to start your real coat with confidence.

What to bring

Skill level: Suitable for the adventurous beginner through intermediate sewist. Basic machine sewing required; no garment experience needed.

  • We need at least 4 students for a class to run. If we don’t reach that number, we’ll reschedule and make sure you get a spot in the next session.
  • Safety comes first. If the weather is unsafe, we’ll reschedule and keep you updated by email or phone.
