Embroidery Essentials Skills Class Series will be taught as a series of monthly classes where we learn and improve our embroidery skills. Our teachers will be Darlene Crellin and Jinni Beens
Class 1: Towel Class - Experience adding custom lettering to an embroidery design while learning tips and tricks for stitching on a tea towel. This class features our most popular stabilizer and water-soluble topping for towels.
Class 2: Machine Applique Using a Template Class Intro - Learn how to successfully create applique using OESD Fuse and Fix and mirrored templates while creating a fun pillow. Class includes centering a design using the placement tools built into the embroidery machine and thinking outside the box with an embroidery design.
Class 3: Machine Applique - Cut in Place Technique - Let’s create a retro greeting card with applique on Luxe Sparkle Vinyl. Class focus on learning the basics of cut-in-place applique, embroidery on vinyl, and working with a ‘non-card’ embroidery design.
Class 4: Cutwork - This class focuses on cutwork embroidery design basics and best practices when working with large-sized blanks. Use a napkin corner to embellish an elegant apron.
Class 5: Freestanding Lace - Freestanding lace is a skill that looks challenging but is very easy once you learn the basics. This class teaches the difference between freestanding lace and freestanding applique and tips and tricks for successful lace making. Students will create a beautiful Ombre bookmark using thread and wash away stabilizer.
Class 6: Freestanding Applique Structure - Achieve a perfectly assembled little house while learning a unique type of machine embroidery. In class, we’ll delve into the stitching process of freestanding applique and share the recipe for freestanding applique success.
Class 7: Tiling Scene - Learn the basics of creating an embroidery ‘tile’ using the appropriate stabilizer and hooping method. Stitching and assembling a tiling scene are explained and demonstrated in class. Create a darling trivet by arranging and stitching tiles together.
Class 8: Patches - The class focuses on creating a fun and functional patch. Students will learn what makes a design a good candidate for a patch and the products needed to make a patch successfully in class. After this class, students will have all the skills needed to go forth and make patches, including how to attach a patch with NO sewing! Everyone loves a little flair!
Class 9: Piecing in the Hoop - Perfect quilt blocks are achievable. Students will create a modern pieced table topper in class while learning the basics and best practices of piecing in the hoop.
Class 10: Quilting in the Hoop - Embroidery machine for all over quilting is a skill everyone should have in their proficiencies. Printed templates make edge-to-edge quilting sew easy to get the look of an all-over quilting design.
Class 11: In the Hoop - Everyone will leave with a finished gift right out of the hoop and fall in love with in the hoop projects. In class, students will create a fun, functional, and fellow friendly cord keeper while learning the basics of in the hoop projects.
Class 12: Stitch and Turn - Explore the vast library of embroidery stitch and turn projects. Students will create a cute stuffed chocolate-colored bunny in class while learning the simple process of creating a stitch and turn project.
