We want your class experience to be fun and stress-free. Here are a few things to know before you sign up:

  • We need at least 2 students for a class to run. If we don’t reach that number, we’ll reschedule and make sure you get a spot in the next session.
  • Class fees are non-refundable, but life happens! If you can’t make it, we’ll gladly move you into a future class of the same type (as long as there’s room).
  • If you miss class without letting us know, we won’t be able to offer a refund or reschedule.
  • Safety comes first. If the weather is unsafe, we’ll reschedule and keep you updated by email or phone.

Valerie Coatham - ByAnnie Academy @ AQWC Studio - Beginner Class

Time: 5–8 pm
Where: AQWC Studio at 1963 Old Hwy 2, Belleville

If you’ve wanted to try ByAnnie bags but didn’t know where to begin, this class is a simple way to start. Your teacher will guide you through each step, help you understand the pattern, and show the basic techniques you’ll use again and again. This class is beginner-friendly. No bag-making experience needed.

Choose Your Beginner Project: 
We will be working on of those the projects listed below:

  • Call Me – small, simple crossbody
  • Ditty Bags 2.0 – cute zip bags in useful sizes
  • Drop Zone – a clean and practical catch-all
  • Easy Does It – roomy pouch for supplies or gifting
  • Piecekeeper – classic zippered pouch
  • Clam Up – clamshell-style zipper bags in several sizes

Why Kits Help
We highly recommend you to get a curated kit which includes everything you need—vinyl, mesh, hardware, and more—so you don’t have to buy items separately, and your starting cost stays lower.

In the beginner class, you’ll Learn:

  • how to quilt Soft and Stable
  • how to read, cut, and label pattern pieces
  • how to install zippers, mesh, and vinyl
  • how to make bias binding
  • how to install hardware

What you will need to bring to the class:

Your sewing machine, basic sewing tools, quarter inch foot, also if you have a foot which can sew on top of the vinyl. 

Supplies:

  • One of the following patterns:
    • Call Me (pattern is free, we can print it out for you for an additional $3 in the class)
    • Ditty Bags 2.0 – cute zip bags in useful sizes
    • Drop Zone – a clean and practical catch-all
    • Easy Does It (digital file included and we can print it for you for an additional fee)
    • Piecekeeper (digital file included and we can print it for you for an additional fee)
    • Clam Up – clamshell-style zipper bags in several sizes

  • 24" single-slide zipper
  • Polyester thread for exterior, lining, and zipper tape (Glide works well)
